Every year by the time March comes around, many of us in the north are longing for the summer to arrive. The long dark winter nights, gloomy days, plus all the sugar and fat we indulged in over the holiday seem to be piling up to drag us down. As we happily prepare for the arrival of spring, it is a good time to rid the winter excess and reboot for the new season. Spring detox sounds really appealing.
Detoxification is more than "flashing out", though. Our body has natural ability to detoxify itself, explained Frances Arnold, certified dietitian and guest of our show this week. Unfornately, the modern junk-food dominated diet and daily exposure to environmental contaminants can easily overwhelm our bodies.
