What is Time Line Therapy
Time Line TherapyTM is derived from Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) and Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, and is based on the fact that the subconscious mind encodes and stores all our memories and experiences - even though only a very small fraction of this vast information is in our conscious awareness. The subconscious "files" our memories in a linear fashion, which is called the Time Line.
To clarify this further. Let's say you have been struggling with anxiety and insecurity since your childhood. When you think about it, you can probably remember 10 or more events of the past during which you experienced these unpleasant emotions. However, you know that you had been anxious or insecure many more times in the course of your life. Some of these events may have happened too early for you to be able to remember them. Other memories may have been suppressed by your subconscious, because they were either too difficult or too frequent to be consciously processed. Although you don't recall each of these episodes, they are all still stored on the level of your subconscious mind. So when you try to overcome anxiety by only working through the events you remember, you are not addressing the large amount of subconsciously stored anxious memories. As a result, you may either feel that it takes a very long time to let go of these negative emotions of the past - or they don't ever seem to completely release.
Time Line TherapyTM takes advantage of the fact that on the level of the subconscious, memories that contain a specific negative emotion or limiting belief, such as "I am not good enough", are chained together in a sequence of events, called the "gestalt." Rather than focusing on individual events, Time Line TherapyTMreleases the entire "gestalt," beginning with the very first experience of the problem until the present moment. This allows you to completely eliminate negative emotions and limiting beliefs from the subconscious storage - including those which could not be consciously processed. The fact that Time Line TherapyTM does not require you to remember or relive potentially traumatic events is one the distinguishing aspects of this equally gentle and powerful process. In addition to the release of unwanted emotions, Time Line TherapyTM provides you with the learning's from the problem and a deeper understanding of the patterns of the past, which supports personal growth.
Time Line Therapy AT Work
The release of a negative emotion or limiting beliefs with Time Line TherapyTM is done in a light trance state and usually takes from a few minutes to one hour. In order to test the success of the therapy, the client thinks about a specific event that before Time Line TherapyTM used to bring up the negative emotion or belief and notices how their feelings have changed. Since the basics of this process are relatively easy to learn, the client is empowered by the successful release to work consciously with the subconscious mind and utilize this technique by themselves in the future.
