Editor's message: Healthy eating sounds very much like an adult topic. Calories, cholesterol, sugar, ... It all makes healthy eating sound like a drag. Healthy eating doesn't need to be all about rules. How about flavors, fragrance, colors, ...? Every so often, we need to drop our guards and relearn to see the world from a child's eyes. Thank you Carly for sharing your view of healthy eating with us.
Carly is a 14-year-old Grade 8 student at Three Cedars Waldorf School
Carly drew this fruit bowl with oil pastels during her food chemistry block. In this particular exercise, she concentrated on shading and blending colors to give the fruit depth and perspective.
Principle of Waldorf® Education: Inspired to Learn, Prepared to Thrive
By Three Cedars Waldorf School • 556 – 124th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA • 425-401-9874
Waldorf® Education is rooted in a profound understanding of how children learn and grow, based on the education principles from world-renowned, scientist, artist, and founder of Anthroposophy Rudolf Steiner. We nurture the natural joy that children take in learning with lessons imbued with arts and experienced through immersive, hands-on participation.
Each year is designed to meet children’s evolving aptitude for experiences and social interactions. Because Waldorf students cultivate unique intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual capacities while developing their academic skills, they emerge with the freedom to act and think, confident in themselves, their path, and their place in the world.
